Bengaluru: Team of 31 policewomen launched to monitor crimes against women, kids

Bengaluru: Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant announced on Saturday that a specially trained team of 31 female police officers has been constituted to monitor crimes against women and children and create awareness.
The team, called ‘Rani Chennamma Pade’, is “by women, for women, of women”, he said. The team will also provide training to women in basic self-defense techniques.
In a tweet, Pant said, ” Rani Chennamma Pade – By Women, For Women, Of Women! A team of specially trained 31 Bengaluru City Police women officers will keep a tab on crimes against women & children and create awareness among them. Deputy Commissioner of Police – South East Division, Bengaluru, Joshi Srinath Mahadev, IPS is the first one to take the lead.”

He further said, ” The aims & objectives of the Rani Chennamma Pade: 1. Educating and training women about basic self-defense techniques. 2. Creating legal awareness about women & child-related laws – POCSO, NDPS Act, etc. 3. Awareness about the usage of social media and trending cybercrimes. 4. Conducting family & personnel counseling. 5. Sensitizing the public about the treatment of women & children, especially auto, cab, and bus drivers. ”
