Farmers plan road blockades in Bengaluru tomorrow amid Bharat Bandh

Bengaluru: The Bharat Bandh announced by farmers on September 27 has also garnered support from non-farmer unions in Bengaluru.

Reportedly, the farmers plan to block roads at the entry and exit points to the city from 8 am on Monday. Bengaluru traffic police have also banned traffic movement on KG Road via Halasuru Gate Police Station and Nrupatunga Road tomorrow.

The Congress has asked all its workers, state unit chiefs and heads of frontal organizations to take part in the ”Bharat Bandh” called by farmer unions to protest the Centre’s three agri laws.

The Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka (KAMS), the largest association of private schools in the state, have also expressed their solidarity with farmers by wearing green-colored clothes and/or green badges.

However, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai denounced the call for Bharat Bandh by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws on September 27, saying disrupting economic activities post COVID-19 was not in the interest of the nation.
