Bengaluru: Transport minister B Sriramulu will unveil Bengaluru’s first environment-friendly electric bus on Thursday, September 30 at the Kengeri depot.
These buses have a 30-35 passenger capacity and will be deployed at various metro stations, which will end the city’s wait for environment-friendly electric buses.
BMTC will operate 90 e-buses in the city through a service provider. The service provider will also be given space at depots such as Kengeri, Yeshwantpur, and K.R. Puram to put up necessary infrastructure that includes charging points. At each depot, space will be provided to park 30 buses.
The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is likely to roll out the electric bus (e-bus) commercial service from November 1, Kannada Rajyotsava.
