Srirangapatna: A high drama ensued in Srirangapatna today, October 4, as a group of farmers blocked Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashok’s car.

Minister was visiting the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in the city when the farmer activists arrived and started raising slogans in protest – denouncing the BJP part and the government’s actions.

Minister chose to ignore the protestors and tried to get into his car. Riled up by this, the protestors gheraoed the car and blocked its passage by sleeping around it. The police tried to disperse the crowd for a long time but were unsuccessful.

There was chaos for a while as the police, BJP party workers, and protesters started pushing and shoving each other. The Minister’s car also suffered minor damage. Finally, to pacify the crowd, minister Ashok got out of the car and talked with the protesters.

The protestors petitioned R Ashok for withdrawing the three farm laws passed by the central government and for reopening MySugar factory under government management. Thereafter, the minister returned.
