Complaint against 5 for defrauding lakhs of rupees in Minister Eshwarappa’s name

Shivamogga: A case has been registered against five persons for defrauding people by claiming to be the close confidants of Karnataka rural development minister K S Eshwarappa.
The suspects have been identified as Vittala Rao, Mohammad Mufasir, Manjunatha, Kazivalis, and Mohammad Rehman and have been booked in two cases. The accused allegedly fleeced lakhs of rupees from the victims
Case 1: 100 crore loan
Rajesh a civil engineer from Mysuru was duped in the guise of getting a Rs 100-crore loan for a villa project. The five accused were paid Rs 10 lakh as commission for this purpose. The complaint says that the accused threatened to kill him when asked for the money paid to be returned.
case 2: RO water plant
In the case of Laxman, a contractor from Shivamogga, the accused promised to provide 106 Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plants. Laxman was made to fork out Rs 26.25 Lakh for the same. However, none were supplied. The accused had similarly threatened to kill the complainant when asked for the money to be returned.
Modus Operandi
In both cases, the five accused portrayed themselves as close friends and aides of minister Eshwarappa to gain the trust of victims. Both victims, Rajesh of Mysuru and Laxman of Shivamogga, believed this narrative and gave money, the complaint said.
The case has been registered at CEN Station in Shivamogga and further investigations are on.
