Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Thursday eased the restrictions on Durga Puja celebrations in Bengaluru. As per the revised guidelines, the four feet limit of Durga idols has been removed.
“One has to follow all Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and allow only 50 people in batches. There is no restriction on the total number of batches,” the BBMP said in a statement on Thursday.
It further said that during the prayer rituals, the use of drums is permitted. The BBMP also added that a ward can have more than one idol with the permission of the joint commissioner.
BJP’s Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that the order is “discriminatory” and “illogical” and claimed that it needs revision to be more “inclusive” for devotees.
He had written to BBMP urging them to revise the Durga Puja norms issued earlier.
