Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday, October 13.

The CM reached on Wednesday morning to take part in the Dasara festivities and also participate in various programs in Udupi.

Speaking to the reporters, Bommai said, ” In view of a possible power crisis in the State due to the shortage of coal, we have asked the Centre to increase the coal supply. We have also spoken to Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi. Already, eight rakes of coal have arrived in the state.  It will be beneficial if we receive three more rakes of coal and necessary arrangements are being done for this purpose.”

Talking about moral policing incidents in the district, he said, ” It is a very sensitive issue. It is common to have differences in society especially when we have such diverse cultures. We need to behave in such a way that we do not hurt others’ sentiments. Also, Humans cannot live without morals. Without morality, social life is nearly impossible as all our relationships, peace, and order depend on them. However, it is the government’s duty to maintain social harmony along with law and order. ”

Regarding the restrictions on the movement of people enforced at the border with Kerala, Bommai said, “A meeting will be conducted soon with the expert committee in this regard. The re-opening of primary schools in the state will also be discussed in the meeting.”

Bommai was received by Minister of Kannada and Culture, Sunil Kumar, Mayor Premananda Shetty, Moodbidiri MLA Umanath Kotian, DC Rajendra KV and City Police commissioner Shashi Kumar.
