K’taka: Six achievers chosen for Sri Maharishi Valmiki Awards 2021

Bengaluru: Six prominent personalities have been chosen for the Sri Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti Award for the year 2021, announced Minister of Tribal Welfare and Transport Department B Sriramulu.

K. C Nagaraju (social service) Bengaluru division, Lakshmigapathi Siddi (social service) Belagavi division, Prof. S.R. Niranjan (education) Mysuru division, Bhatrahalli Goolappa (Social service) Kalaburagi division, T. Ashwatharamaiah (social service) Bengaluru Central division and Jambaiah Nayaka (social service) have been chosen for the 2021 Valmiki Award, the minister said.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the awards were not announced in 2020. The government has decided to confer the year 2020 award to 5 achievers, Sriramulu added.

Dr K.R. Patil (social service)- Belagavi division, Dr B.L. Venu (literature)- Bengaluru division,  Gauri Koraga (social service)- Mysuru division,  Marappa Nayaka (organisation) – Kalaburagi division, and  Thippeswamy H aka Sirigere Thippesh (social service)- Bengaluru Central division have been selected for the Sri Maharishi Valmiki award for the year 2020.

The award carries a 20-gram gold medal, a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, and a citation, which will be presented to the 11 winners by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at a function, scheduled to be held at Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha on October 20.
