Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bengaluru held a protest march in condemnation of the attack on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh on Saturday. A peaceful march was held in Hare Krishna Hill area of Bengaluru, as part of the protests being held at about 700 ISKCON temples across 150 nations on Saturday.

An ISKCON temple in Bangladesh was demolished and the attacks have also claimed lives of some ISKCON devotees. The ISKCON followers held banners, that read ‘Justice for Bangladesh minorities’ and ‘Protect our temples in Bangladesh’

Expressing grief over the unprovoked attacks on Hindu minorities, including ISKCON devotees, Madhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore said, “We unitedly stand in support and solidarity with them and pray for their safety and well-being.”

We appeal to the Bangladesh government to ensure the well-being of the affected minorities and initiate steps for their protection. We also request the Government of India to work with our neighbouring countries and protect the rights of minorities in the region,” he said.

ISKON in its official press release said that the march was held to express solidarity with the persecuted minorities of Bangladesh. Apart from ISKCON devotees other citizens too participated in the peaceful march.

Violence broke out in Bangladesh after a copy of the Quran was found at the Nanua Dighir Par Durga Puja pandal in Comilla. The incident had caused widespread violence as communal tension gripped Bangladesh.
