Bengaluru: The mortal remains of ‘Power Star’ Puneeth Rajkumar have been kept at the Kanteerava Stadium for public viewing.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other dignitaries arrived at the venue and paid their last respects to the actor.

A large crowd has gathered outside the stadium. Extensive police security arrangements have been put in place.

At one time, chaos ensued as hundreds of fans tried to break into the stadium. Police resorted to a lathi-charge to control the crowd. Fans chanted “Appu Amara” (Appu is immortal) to express their respect for the ‘Power Star.’

An undeclared bandh was observed at Sadashiv Nagar, as shops shut voluntarily their door early on Friday.

Fans are being allowed a final viewing tonight and tomorrow.

The government has issued a notification that Puneeth Rajkumar will be cremated with all government honors on Sunday next to the samadhi of his father Dr. Rajkumar.
