Puneeth Rajkumar likely to be cremated today; Minister inspects site

Excise minister K Gopalaiah inspecting funeral arrangements at Kanteerava Studios

Bengaluru: All preparations have been made at Kanteerava Studios on Saturday for the funeral of power star Puneeth Rajkumar, who passed away on Friday. According to the latest reports, the cremation is likely to be held tonight.

Excise minister K Gopalaiah visited the cremation site in the morning and inspected the progress of the preparations being made next to the grave of Dr. Rajkumar. BDA president Vishwanath, producer Rockline Venkatesh, BBMP officials, and engineers were present.

Governor of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot paid last respects to the Puneeth at the Kanteerava Stadium and offered his condolences.

Famous Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna was on his way to pay the last homage, at the time of publication of this news.

Head of Adichunchanagiri Math, Shri Nirmalananda Swamiji, also paid final tribute to the ‘Power Star’.

Dhriti to reach Delhi:

Puneeth’s daughter Dhriti who is flying home from the USA will reach Delhi in the afternoon, and is expected to arrive in Bengaluru by evening today.  Preparations are being made for the cremation with state honors after she pays her final farewell to her father.

Funeral procession:

Appu will be taken to Kanteerava Studios from the Kanteerava Stadium in a funeral procession. Reports said that security and other arrangements are being made to hold it anytime in the evening.

Cremation site out of bounds for fans

The cremation will be a private affair. Appu’s fans will not be allowed at the cremation site. Only select dignitaries and close family members will be allowed inside the Kanteerava Studios to view the cremation rituals, sources said.
