Bypolls: BJP-Congress tight fight in CM’s hometown; BJP extends lead in Sindagi

Haveri/Vijayapura: Counting of votes for the by-polls to two assembly constituencies in the state is underway today. The BJP candidate has taken a huge lead in the Sindagi constituency while there is a tough contest in Hanagal.

In Karnataka chief minister’s hometown Hanagal, Congress candidate Srinivas Mane is in the lead.  After the conclusion of 6 rounds of counting, Mane got 27,244 votes, while BJP candidate Shivaraj Sajjanar received 25,746 votes. Niyaz Shaikh of JD(S) was a distant third with only 204 votes.

Meanwhile, in Sindagi, BJP candidate Ramesh Bhusanur extended his early lead. His tally was 41,498 votes after 9 rounds of counting. Ashoka Managuli of Congress got 25,448 votes. Bhusanur is leading by a massive margin of 15,950 votes.
