Kaup: Youth killed by venomous snakebite

Kaup: A youth who had gone to the fields to perform the “Tudar” ritual (showing the light of the festival) on Deepavali was allegedly bitten by a poisonous serpent and died at a hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit Kumar (26), a resident of Kalya in Kaup.
Rohit and his brothers had gone to the fields on Thursday night to perform the Balindra Puja, when he was bitten by a venomous snake. The family immediately rushed him to a traditional healer to get him treated.
He had shown signs of recovery after treatment, sources said. However, on Friday evening he fell seriously ill and was rushed to KMC Hospital in Manipal. However, he passed away without responding to treatment, sources added.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Kaup police station.
