B’luru: Small screen actress accuses husband of rape, dowry harassment; files complaint

Bengaluru: A small screen actress has registered a complaint of rape and dowry harassment against her husband at Basavanagudi Women’s police station.
In her complaint, the actress alleged that the accused had raped her on several occasions before their marriage. During the Covid-19 lockdown period, the accused visited the victim’s residence and raped her. He later pacified the victim by assuring her of marriage.
Post their marriage, he and his family members harassed her for dowry and at times even assaulted her, the victim claimed.
Police said that the actress, who was a participant of a Kannada reality show had become acquainted with the accused over social media and were friends since two years.
According to police, the actress is now separated from her husband.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the actress had sought the help of organizations to get married to the accused.
Police are investigating the case and statements of the victim’s friends are being recorded.
