Ramanagar: A priest has been arrested for making a woman sit naked in front of him while performing a black magic ritual to unearth a treasure buried inside a man’s house in Ramanagara.

The arrested accused have been identified as priest Shahikumar from Tamilnadu, his aide Mohan, masons Lakshminarasappa, Lokesh, Nagaraj and Parthasarathi. The arrests were made based on the complaint filed by Srinivas, an agriculturist from Bhoonhalli.

In 2019, Srinivas had travelled to Tamil Nadu to attend a wedding. There he came in contact with the Shashikumar. Later in 2020, Shashikumar visited Srinivas’ house in Bhoonhalli. The house was built 75 years ago and the priest informed Srinivas that there was a hidden treasure inside the house.

Shashukumar took an advance of Rs 20,000 from Srinivas and chose a room in his house to perform the rituals. He said that the treasure would be revealed automatically if the naked woman was made to sit in front of him during the puja. He also insisted that the woman must belong to the Srinivas family.

They then chose a daily wager woman and paid her Rs 5,000 for the task. Locals informed the police about the suspicious activities of the priest and police arrived at the spot and rescued the woman and her four-year-old daughter.

It is said that the woman’s daughter was brought to the scene for a human sacrifice during the search for the hidden treasure. However, Superintendent of police S Girish rejected such reports.
