Melkar: Lorry-bike collision, Rider loses life

Bantwal: In a tragic incident, a motorbike rider lost his life in a road accident at Melkar junction in the late hours of November 16.

The victim is identified as Ganesh (36), a resident of Mangaluru. He worked at  Marnabailu Service Station near Melkar, sources said.

The accident happened as Ganesh was crossing over to Mudipu road at the Melkar Junction on National Highway 75. A truck that was moving on the highway collided with his motorbike.

Ganesh who sustained serious injuries died later without responding to treatment, sources added.

The Melkar circle was completely damaged as the driver veered off course to avoid the collision and rammed into it.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic Police Station.
