Mangaluru: In yet another case of cyber fraud reported in the city, a man lost Rs 1.2 lac to a fraudster on the pretext of helping him get a loan of Rs 12 lakh.

As per the complaint registered at Mangaluru CEN police station, the victim had got a call from a person, who claimed to be a representative of Aditya Birla group on October 19, 2021. The caller lured the victim with a Rs 12 lakh loan offer. The victim was then asked to share his PAN number and Aadhar card details through WhatsApp, which he did without suspecting the caller’s intentions.

Four days later i.e. on October 23 the complainant got another call from a person claiming to be a Bharti AXA life insurance representative. The caller, the complainant stated, sent him a link to facilitate premium payment inclusive of GST charges. The complainant did as directed and made the premium payment via his credit cards.

It was only after a few days that he realized that the callers had misled and duped him of his money following which he approached the cyber police to lodge a complaint.
