Heavy rains witnessed in some parts of the Karavali coast

Mangaluru/Udupi/Kasaragod: The effects of the depression over the Bay of Bengal were felt in the Karnataka coast with heavy rainfall witnessed across the coast on Friday.
Mangaluru city received heavy showers from 8.30 pm on Friday. Artificial floods were seen in neighborhoods in some low-lying areas of the city. Roads were waterlogged in some areas including Kottara, Lalbagh, and Kottarachowki in the city, and traffic movement was disrupted. Kasaragod district also received heavy rainfall on Friday.
It was cloudy across the Udupi district, throughout the day. Some parts of Kundapur and Byndoor received good rainfall on Friday. Kundapur, Koteshwara, Thekkatte, Basrur, Haladi, Siddapur, Ajri, Madammakki, and other parts received moderate rainfall. The unseasonal rains hampered crop harvesting and the farmers are suffering losses.
Yellow alert!
The met department has sounded a Yellow alert for coastal districts including Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod. Moderate rainfall is expected across the coast on Saturday, accompanied by stormy winds and lighting, the department has warned.
