Biggest joke on us citizens: Kiran Mazumdar Shaw after BBMP wins award for ‘Clean City’

Bengaluru: Bengaluru has been declared ‘Fastest Mover’ mega-city among urban local bodies with more than 40 lakh population in the Central government’s annual cleanliness survey, the results of which were announced on Saturday.
President Ram Nath Kovind gave away awards to winners of the ‘Swachh Survekshan Awards, 2021’ at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
Apart from Bengaluru, seven other cities in the state namely Hubballi-Dharwad, Mysuru, Mudhol, Hosadurga, Krishnarajanagara, Kumta and Piriyapatna
Meanwhile, on Friday Bengalureans expressed their displeasure as the state capital figured among the eight municipal to have won the Union- Government initiated an award for cleanliness.
Several took to Twitter to share pictures of the garbage in their neighborhood and tagged the civic body. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw was among the many who termed the award as the biggest joke on citizens of Bengaluru.
Taking to Twitter Shaw said, “BBMP wins award for ‘keeping Bengaluru clean’ | This is the biggest joke on us citizens! A municipality who has failed to keep our city clean for decades wins the award? Citizens need to hold them accountable with rallies @BBMPSWMSplComm.”
