Chikkamagaluru: An elderly woman beggar became the talk of the town after she donated Rs 10,000 to the Swami Anjaneya temple in Kadur town here.
On Friday Kempamma, 65, visited the temple and asked to meet the administrator. Initially, she was asked to leave the premises on the assumption that she was seeking a meeting to ask for alms. A determined Kempamma however paid no attention to them and walked into the temple.
She surprised everyone when she gave her savings of nearly Rs 10,000 (20 notes of Rs 500 denomination) to the temple priest in the form of donation. The elderly asked the priest to use the money for making a silver covering for the temple gopuram (tower).
Notably, this is the second time that she has donated her savings to the temple.
