Parari rape & murder case: MLA Bharat Shetty condemns heinous crime; demands harsh punishment for guilty

Mangaluru: Condemning the brutal gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl here, BJP MLA Bharat Shetty has sought harsh punishment for the arrested accused.
Earlier today, police arrested four persons — Jayban alias Jay Singh (21), Mukesh Singh (23), Manish Tirki (33), Muneem Singh (20) — all workes at the tile factory where the child’s parents are employed, in connection with the crime.
The accused happen to be migrant workers hailing from Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking on the serious nature of the crime, MLA Shetty said that severe punishment must be meted out to the accused. It must act as a deterrent to others from committing such crimes, he added.
He further said that contractors and firms employing migrant workers must necessarily do a background check and also give their details to local police for verification purposes at the time of employing them. He urged the police to take necessary steps to make the city a safer place for the women and girls.
