Belthangady: Seven arrested for illegal cow transportation

Belthangady: Police officials on Wednesday, November 24 have arrested seven people in connection with the illegal transportation of cattle at Anjanabettu, Kadirudyavara. Officials raided the spot and rescued two cows and a calf.

The arrested accused have been identified as Basavaraj, Avinash B R, Ashfaraj, G S Harish, BS Harish, Sheena Poojary, and Ismail.

They were transporting the cattle in a car at around 2.05 am. The car was then intercepted and the accused were arrested.

However, one of the accused Harish from Mudigere has filed a counter-complaint stating that the animals were bought from the house of Sheenappa Poojary for other purposes. He also claimed that they were beaten up by Bajrang Dal activists and sought action against the accused.
