Covid Omicron: Udupi dist admin intensifies curbs amid new variant alarm

Udupi: Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Kurmarao on Sunday, November 28 informed that the district administration has announced stricter rules related to Covid-19 after the virus’ new variant has created tension across the globe due to its easily transmissible nature.

Speaking about the issue Kurmarao said that the rules issued by the state government are being followed in the district.

The district administration has also mandated travelers arriving in the state from South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong to undergo RT-PCR Covid-19 test upon arrival.

Students who are residing in a hostel will have to undergo an RT-PCR test again on the 7th day after the negative report.

Students and other people visiting Karnataka daily for education, business, and other reasons will have to undergo an RT-PCR test once every 14 days and possess a negative Covid-19 test report for entry into the southern state.

On Saturday, Karnataka recorded 402 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths. As per the state’s health department, the state has 6,611 active cases of infection. Karnataka has recorded 29,94,963 infections since the onset of the pandemic last year.
