Bengaluru: Over 100 people present at a medical conference in Bengaluru, that the 46-year-old patient infected with Omicron variant had attended, have been tested for coronavirus.
The 28th annual conference of the Indian College of Cardiology was conducted in a hotel in Bengaluru and it was attended by around 60 medical professionals.
However, one of the doctors who attended the conference, pointed out that the infected doctor tested positive for the new variant just a day after attending the event. The incubation period for the virus is 5-10 days, so it is possible that he got the virus before the event itself.
BBMP Special Commissioner (Health) KV Thrilok Chandra said that BBMP is trying to trace the variant’s source as the patient, who is a doctor, has no international travel history.
More than 100 people including the hotel staff have been tested, he added.
