Koppal: A woman affected by Covid beat the infection after a prolonged battle of 158-days with the disease.

Geeta Bai (46) from Boduru village in Yelburga taluk was discharged from the hospital on Monday after recovering from the infection.

On July 3, Geeta bai was rushed to the Koppala District Hospital with serious complications of the disease including difficulty breathing. As her condition was critical she was admitted to the ICU.

The doctors treating her had said 96 percent of her lungs were damaged.  She needed 15-20 liters of oxygen to keep her alive.

Usually, patients with covid require 10-15 days of hospital stay for treatment. But, Gita bai was hospitalized for 158 days out of which 104 days were spent in the ICU, making it one of the longest treatments in India for Covid, opined one of the doctors at the district hospital.
