Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, four members of a family were found dead at their home in Morgansgate on Wednesday, December 8.
As per sources, it appeared to be a case of suicide. The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
The deceased are Nagesh Sheriguppi (30), his wife Vijayalaxmi (26), and two children Sapna (8) and Samarth (4), all natives of Bagalkote.
Reportedly, Nagesh was found hanging while his wife and children are suspected of consuming poison.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited the spot and the investigation is on.
The police commissioner informed the reporters that a death note written by Nagesh has been recovered from the crime scene. The note alleges that Vijayalaxmi had close contact with a woman named Noor Jahan who had tried to change the religious faith of the wife.
Noor Jahan has been detained for interrogation, the Compol said, adding that investigations are underway to find out whether the religious conversion was a reason behind the crime.
According to the police, the relations between the husband and wife were strained for a long time. Nagesh had lodged a missing complaint against Vijayalaxmi in October. After a few days, she had approached the women’s police station and had alleged that she ran away due to the torture and physical abuse by her husband in a drunken stupor. She agreed to reconcile and live with Nagesh for the sake of their little children.
Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
