Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress committee members organized a mass baby shower ceremony for 70 pregnant women in Bengaluru on the occasion of Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on Thursday.

The event was led by KPYCC president M S Raksha Ramaiah and former minister K J George. It was held at Anjaneya temple in Dodda Banaswadi.

The pregnant women, purportedly seen wearing flower garlands and silk sarees, were given “bagina” (offering) symbolizing peace and prosperity. Several relatives and their close friends also took part in the event.

Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi turned 75 on Thursday. She is the longest-serving President of Congress party.
