In a rather shocking incident, as many as 250 puppies have been killed in an alleged revenge attack by monkeys in Maharashtra’s Beed district.
As per the villagers, the monkeys have been on a rampage for over a month following the killing of a baby monkey by a few dogs.
Seeking to avenge the infant’s death, the primates have been targeting the puppies, dragging them to the top of buildings and trees, and then dropping them.
A villager named Sitaram Naibal reportedly fractured his leg while saving his pet dog from the monkeys here
The villagers reported the incident to the forest department officials urging them to nab the monkeys. As per a News18 report, the forest department officials visited the place but left after they failed to catch even a single monkey.
Locals say that most of the puppies in the village have been killed by these monkeys. However, the primates are still frequenting the village.
The report claims that the monkeys are now targetting school-going children thus creating a sense of fear among the villagers.
