MBBS intern’s death: Classmate arrested for abetting suicide

Mangaluru: Police arrested a youth on charges of abetting the suicide of an MBBS intern here on Monday, December 20.
Sujish (24), a native of Palakkad in Kerala was arrested by Ullal police under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It may be recalled that Vaishali Gaikwad (25) daughter of Vijaykumar Gaikwad, a resident of Anandnagar, Bidar district had reportedly killed herself by hanging on Sunday, December 19 at her rented apartment in Kuthar. She was a classmate of the accused at a city-based medical college and they were in a love relationship, police said.
For some time now, their relations were strained as differences cropped up and both were depressed over the same. After a phone conversation with Sujish, Vaishali switched her phone off, sources added.
The suicide came to light when friends who visited her apartment found the doors shut and her phone switched off. When the doors were opened, the body of the girl was found hanging from the ceiling, police sources said.
