A Rs 12 crore Mercedes-Maybach S650 armoured vehicle happens to be the latest addition in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy, an upgrade from the former Range Rover Vogue and Toyota Land Cruiser.
The PM was first spotted using the new Maybach S650 Guard at Hyderabad House earlier this month when he met Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to India.
As per a report in the Car and Bike portal, the Maybach S650 comes with VR10-level protection, the highest level of armoured protection available on a production car. It can withstand hardened steel core bullets. The sedan has also received the Explosive Resistant Vehicle (ERV) 2010 rating which means that the car occupants will remain safe in case of a 15 kg TNT explosion from a distance of just two metres. The lower part of the car is heavily armoured to protect the occupants from direct explosions. In the event of a gas attack, the cabin gets a separate air supply.
Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that develops 516 bhp and about 900 Nm of peak torque. The top speed is restricted to 160 Kmph. In addition, the car is equipped with run-flat tyres, ensuring a quick getaway in case of damage or puncture.
As per reports, Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard costs around Rs 12 crore.
