Shivamogga: In an act of revenge for allegedly being denied water a man is said to have vandalized four idols, including that of Goddess Saraswati in the premises of a government lower primary school in Haroholige gram panchayat of Thirthahalli taluk.
A complaint was filed against the accused identified as Govinda by Sasithota Manjunath, president of SDMC at Thirthahalli police station.
The complainant alleged that Govinda vandalized the idols of Mahatma Gandhi, Goddess Saraswati, Swami Vivekananda and Gautama Buddha and also damaged the pipeline in the farmland located behind the school.
As per reports the headteacher of the school had refused to give Govinda drinking water when he had asked for the same a few days back. Irked by this, Govind carried out the vandalism in a drunken stupor.
Police are investigating the case.
