A Delhi-bound air passenger disrupted security checks at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) by refusing to remove his expensive Rolex watch and place it on a tray for the mandatory screening process of passengers by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
A video of the incident, posted online by a witness has gone viral.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday when the passenger, who was to board a Vistara flight to Delhi refused to remove his Rolex Submariner, worth rs 40 lakhs, citing fears of it getting stolen during the screening.
An argument ensued between him and the CISF officers who warned him that they would not allow him to board his flight if he didn’t cooperate with the security process. The man, witnesses said boasted about his contacts in New Delhi.
As the incident was casing inconvenience to other passengers, senior officials intervened and convinced the man who then removed his watch for security clearance.
No case was registered against the man and he was let off with a warning.
However, the other passengers who witnessed the incident lauded the courage of CISF officers for not buckling under pressure.
