Udupi: The sea walkway near Malpe beach is one of the favorite tourist spots. A newly constructed garden at the sea walkway has added more facilities for the convenience of the holidaymakers.
The Nirmithi Kendra began the construction of the garden during the lockdown last year and was completed very recently. Constructed at a cost of Rs 2 Crore, the Malpe Beach Development Committee (MBDC) has been given the responsibility to maintain it.
The garden gives all the amenities sought by the visitors and more. Apart from food courts, drinking water facilities, and restrooms, the garden also has a 250-seater amphitheater with an open-air gallery to hold music concerts, stage plays, or host any other programs. It also has a sprawling parking space that can hold more than 200 cars.
The walkway made of interlocked stones is designed in such a way that the visitors can enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Arabian sea. The garden also has plants of more than 3,000 varieties which not only give a sense of freshness but also provide the much-needed cooling effect on the beachside.
