Haveri: Upset over rejection of loan application, Man sets bank on fire

Haveri: Allegedly upset over his loan application being rejected, a man in Hedigonda village of Byadgi taluk in Haveri district poured petrol inside a bank and set it on fire late on Saturday night.
The man identified as Wasim Hazaratsab Mulla, 33, a resident of Rattihalli town in the district, had applied for a loan from the Canara Bank but it was rejected as he had a low CIBIL score.
Enraged by this, Mulla came to the bank on Saturday night, broke open window panes of the branch office and gained entry inside. He poured petrol on the materials and lit fire.
Cash counter and cabin, CCTVs, five computers, passbook printer, scanner, cash-counting machine, fans, lights, documents and furniture, together worth Rs 12 lakh, have been gutted.
A few villagers who noticed the fire alerted the police and fire personnel. They also caught Mulla while he tried to flee the village. On being alerted, the fire force personnel rushed and doused the fire.
A case has been registered.
