Mangaluru: 176 police officials given booster jab

Mangaluru: As many as 176 police officials, who were eligible for the precautionary dose of Covid 19 were administered with booster shots at the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya on Thursday, January 13.

City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar was among those who took the booster jab.

Speaking to media persons he informed that 176 police personnel were given booster jab in today’s drive while 576 police officials have already been administered booster shots earlier.

Only those eligible police personnel, who have completed nine months after taking their second dose of vaccine, would be eligible for the booster shots, he informed.

Further the Compol stated that during the first wave of Covid 19 130 police staff had tested positive for the virus. In the second wave 80 police personnel tested positive. Nearly 95 percent of the over 2,000 police staff are fully vaccinated while 5 percent of them could not due to medical complications as per doctor’s advice.
