Mangaluru: Elderly man killed by pickup truck at Shaktinagar

Mangaluru: An elderly man was killed after being hit by a pickup truck at Kakkebettu in Shakthinagar in the city on Saturday, January 15.
The deceased has been identified as Koragappa (85) a resident of Karmika Colony in Kakkebettu.
It is gathered that a pick-up truck (KA-19-ED-2189) laden with floor tiles was taking a reverse turn when it hit the victim who had been standing behind the truck. It is alleged that recklessness and negligent driving caused the accident.
Koragappa sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Government Wenlock District Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Meanwhile, Kankanady police have registered a case under section 304(a) against Mohan, the driver of the pickup truck.
Further investigations are underway.
