COVID: DC directs temporary closure of schools in DK with over five percent positivity

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K Vhas directed the officials to temporarily close down schools with a five or more percent COVID positivity rate.

Online classes will have to be held, in such cases.

The decision was taken at the meeting with the participation of administrations of various schools in the district and education department officials in the office of the deputy commissioner.

During the meeting, many expressed the view that the students will face problems if all the schools in the district are closed. They favored the closure of schools where the incidence of coronavirus infection is more, temporarily.

The deputy commissioner further asked the education department to collect information from schools on a daily basis and issue suitable directions.

He said that further decisions on the issue will be taken after convening a meeting again on the issue after a week.
