In a shocking incident, a villager ended up cutting the throat of a person instead of a goat he was supposed to slaughter.

The incident took place on Sunday during the animal sacrifice, as part of the tradition, at Valasapalli in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. People in the village every year sacrifice the animals and offer them at the local Yellamma temple during Sankranti celebrations.

The accused Chalapathi has been arrested by the police.

According to the police Chalapathi was supposed to slaughter a goat. However, he was in an inebriated condition and cut the throat of Suresh, who was holding the animal.

A profusely bleeding Suresh was rushed to Madanpelle government hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
