Mangaluru: In view of the rising Covid cases in the district, no extracurricular activities except for regular classes will be allowed in schools and colleges, informed Dakshina Kannada DC Dr Rajendra KV.
He was Addressing a review meeting about Covid situation in educational institutes in the district with principals of educational institutions, representatives of education, and health departments at the DC office on Tuesday.
If 5 or more covid positive cases are reported then such institutions should cancel physical classes and conduct online classes instead, he added. He instructed the officials to compulsorily isolate those students who tested positive at hostels or homes.
The DC also urged the officials to work to achieve 100 per cent vaccination of teenagers aged 15 and above.
Further, he instructed the schools and colleges to decide on holding physical or online classes after holding a meeting with parents and teachers. Students who are not willing to attend a physical class must be arranged and accommodated in online classes. A helpline should be launched to enable parents to file complaints about the online classes reach the district administration and education department.
The decision on whether to cancel physical classes or not will be reviewed again at the meeting scheduled to be held on January 24, he said.
