M’luru: Education dept allows schools to extend classes by one hour for SSLC students

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district public education department has announced new guidelines for better results in the upcoming SSLC annual examination. In an effort to give more time for learning, schools have been instructed that they can extend classes for SSLC students by an hour depending on the needs of the students.

DDPI Sudhakar K said that the question banks of every subject have been revised by skilled teachers of the district and delivered to all schools. Headteachers and teachers have been given the responsibility to ensure that the students are well prepared for the exams, and to request parents support for ensuring appropriate behaviour until the exams.

Helpline soon

Resource teacher helpline will be launched in a few days to help students and teachers. A supplementary preparatory programme will also be aired on Akashvani for the benefit of students and parents. Voluntary organizations and community leaders will be roped in for assisting students from minority, SC and ST backgrounds achieve better results, he said.

The DDPI said that the schools have also been instructed to hold three open book preparatory exams by the end of February to enhance the understanding and writing skills of the students.

Student Counselling 

The counselling system in each school will be reactivated. Every effort will be made to develop a positive mindset towards the examinations among students and teachers with the help of voluntary organisations the DDPI said.
