Chamarajanagar: A teenaged girl, who had gone for an outing to the Chikkahole reservoir, drowned here on Wednesday.

The victim was later identified as Soundarya (15), daughter of Humar from Chandukatta Mole. She was an SSLC student at Government High School in Haradanahalli.

It is gathered that Soundarya, along with her classmate Roopa, had visited Chikkahole reservoir on Wednesday afternoon. They ventured into the water for a leisurely swim but were caught by the underwater currents and started drowning.

Roopa was rescued by the locals who were nearby, but Soundarya couldn’t be saved.

A case has been registered at the Chamarajanagar East police station.
