Udupi: A driver for the forest department’s wildlife division allegedly took his own life by hanging himself from a tree within the Ajekar police station’s jurisdiction, reports said.
On Saturday, Satheesh allegedly told Sujith Kumar, a forest watcher, that he needed to go to Mangaluru and asked to be dropped off at the Karkala bus stop, according to police. Sujith went back to work after leaving him off at the bus stop on his bike.
Sujith received a call from Satheesh at 12.40 p.m., asking him to park his two-wheeler near the office at his home. When Sujith told him to do so when he returned, Satheesh declared that he would not return and would commit suicide instead.
A few members of the department rushed in to look for Satheesh shortly after. His lifeless body was found hanging from a tree branch at Mundli village’s Arbi, the report said.
He was going through a health and financial dilemma, according to authorities, and is believed to have committed suicide between 12.40 and 4 p.m. The police station in Ajekar has opened an investigation.
Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
