Karkala: State government is working towards denotifying the deemed forest land and the freed-up land will be utilized for public consumption and to provide shelter to the poor said Minister of Kannada and Culture Department and Energy Department V Sunil Kumar on Saturday, January 30.

Addressing presspersons at the end of KDP review meeting for Karkala and Hebri Taluks, notifying lands as deemed forest led to several problems in providing facilities for the poor. Poor could not access welfare facilities without land records. Denotification of the deemed forest will pave the way for the poor getting land rights, he said.

The newly appointed district-in-charge minister also instructed the public servants to quicken the pace of work. “In the coming days the administration should ensure the schemes of the government reach the masses, as intended,” he added.

The minister also cautioned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against erring government officials.
