Bengaluru: Police officials have arrested a man from Bengaluru for cheating a woman on the pretext of offering admission to a college. It is said that the complainant has been duped of Rs 1.72 lakh.
As per sources, the complainant had joined an engineering course in Reva college but she later wanted to do Computer science course.
A few days later, she got a message from a person saying if she was interested in securing admissions for the course, she should call up the given number.
The person then demanded her to pay money as an advance fee. Fearing she would lose admission, the complainant paid the money online to a bank account.
However, after receiving the money, the accused switched off his mobile phone and was not traceable.
Following which she filed a police complaint. Police officials have seized 3 mobile phones, 4 laptops, 7 sim cards, a gold chain and 3 gold coins from the accused.
