The dead body of a youth, who was reported as missing since January 30 was found on the banks of Alamatti river in Hullur village of Muddebihal taluk today.

The deceased has been identified as Maunesh Basavaraj B, a resident of Talikotte. His body bore wound marks owing to assault by a sharp object.

Police officials visited the spot and have sent his body for post mortem.

Parents of the deceased claim that he has been murdered as he had a relationship with the daughter of a temple priest here.

They alleged that their son had been assaulted several times in the past over his relationship with the girl. Fearing their threats, Maunesh had recently moved to Bengaluru to distance himself from the girl.
