Sampigehalli police on Tuesday arrested a 43-year-old man for duping a person of Rs 17,000 with the promise of “selling” him a seized scooter.
The arrested, Lourd Nathan, a resident of Budigere near Hoskote works as a security guard. The victim in his complaint alleged that Nathan had posed as a CCB constable when they got acquainted a few weeks ago. Last week, Nathan told the victim that he would sell him a scooter seized in a police case for Rs 17,000.
He said that the scooter was being sold cheap as there was a huge backlog of seized vehicles lying in police stations across the city. The man believed him and paid the money for buying the scooter.
As Nathan did not deliver the scooter after several days of being paid the money, the victim got suspicious and approached the police on Tuesday.
Acting on his complaint, the police traced and arrested Nathan the same day. Reportedly, Nathan had used the same modus operandi to dupe another person in Bellandur last November. He was arrested in that case but was released on bail after a month
