Kundapur: After the Hijab controversy in Udupi, a hijab versus saffron shawl controversy erupted in a college in Byndoor, Kundapur.
The college had announced that students should wear only the uniform prescribed by the college and nothing else will be allowed.
Now, the parents have staged a protest against the college authorities for barring the entry of Hijab-clad students. Leaders of Muslim and Hindu organizations were present at the premises. Police personnel have also been deployed.
Meanwhile, several students were spotted wearing saffron shawls on the college premises.
Speaking on the issue, Former Minister Zameer Ahmed said,” Wearing Hijab is a fundamental right. The government is keeping mum on the issue which is not right. Students are now wearing saffron shawls on the premises. BJP is playing dirty politics here. The government itself had announced that there will be no dress code after PUC.”
