Udupi: Wearing a hijab or saffron shawl is strictly prohibited in colleges and the government clear policy on this, said MLA K Raghupati Bhat on Saturday.

The dress code prescribed by the college development committee in private as well as government colleges has to be followed. Even if there is a clear policy about dress code in any college, clothes that can disrupt equality, harmony and public order will never be allowed, he said.

Thus, there should be no more controversy, the MLA said reiterating that both the hijab and saffron are not allowed.
