Bantwal: A man set his bike on fire at BC Road Kaikamba here on February 7 after an argument with the officials of the finance company over non-payment of dues.
According to reports Mohammed Harshad, a resident of Farangipete, doused his motorbike with petrol and torched it right in front of a two-wheeler showroom. He later fled the spot.
Harshad was at the showroom to convince the finance company officials to release the documents confiscated after he failed to pay the EMIs. However, the company officials were adamant and refused to give any leeway.
An argument soon broke out between them. In a fit of anger, Harshad reportedly poured petrol on the motorbike and set it ablaze.
Fire tenders from Bantwal Fire Brigade were called in and the blaze was doused before it could spread to other vehicles parked nearby. However, the bike was completely gutted in the fire.
Bantwal police inspected the spot and have taken the CCTV footage for further inquiry.
