Cubbon Park police have filed a case of theft and cheating against an unknown lady who robbed a 24-gram gold chain from an advocate after taking a lift in his car.
The incident took place on Thursday (Feb 3) evening when the advocate was headed home from his office. In his complaint, the advocate said that the lady got into the front seat of his car when it was stuck in traffic and asked for a lift.
The advocate did not respond as he was busy talking to his wife over the phone. When he cut the call the lady asked him to drop her at the Airlines Hotel and said that he was her first customer for the day. The victim told her he was an advocate and was going towards Lavelle Road. The woman tried to hug him forcibly but got down from the car when I resisted her, he claimed.
After some hours the man noticed that his gold chain was missing. He searched for it thoroughly in the car but did not find it. It was then that he realised that the lady had stolen his chain. A complaint in this regard was filed on Saturday.
The police have collected CCTV footage from the spot where the lady took the lift. The accused will be identified and arrested soon, an officer said.
